{"id":15148,"date":"2023-04-11T11:32:33","date_gmt":"2023-04-11T11:32:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colwyn-tc.gov.uk\/?p=15148"},"modified":"2023-04-11T14:22:55","modified_gmt":"2023-04-11T14:22:55","slug":"15148","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colwyn-tc.gov.uk\/cy\/15148\/","title":{"rendered":"Emergency Alert System"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>Emergency Alert System <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>A UK-wide alerts test will take place at 15.00 on\u202fSunday 23rd April\u202f2023 which will see people receive a test message on their mobile phones.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u202fCabinet Office has launched a new system that will give the Government and emergency services the capability to send an alert directly to mobile phones when there is a risk to life.<\/p>\n<p>The system will enable people to be contacted via their mobile phone when lives are in danger.<\/p>\n<p>It will be used to warn you in the event of emergencies, such as severe flooding.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency Alerts are sent to all compatible mobile phones within an area of risk. They don\u2019t track your location, need your phone number, or collect personal data.<\/p>\n<p>Only the government and the emergency services will be able to send them. If you don\u2019t have a mobile phone, you\u2019ll still be kept informed through other channels.<\/p>\n<p>If you get an Emergency Alert on your phone, you\u2019ll hear a loud, siren-like sound. A message on your screen will tell you about the emergency and how best to respond.
