The Bay of Colwyn Town Council awards grants each year to voluntary, not-for-profit and charitable clubs and organisations providing services or facilities in the Bay of Colwyn area. Recipients of large grants (of over £500) for the 2015/16 financial year were presented with cheques by the Town Mayor, Cllr Mrs Val Smith, at a special Awards Evening last Monday. Grants totalling £30,849 have been awarded by the Town Council this year, to the following organisations:
- Beulah Brass – to enhance local performances
- Carers’ Outreach Service – emotional support and information for carers
- Carers’ Trust North Wales – breaks for carers
- Citizens Advice Bureau – open door services and dedicated office
- Côr Meibion Colwyn – local concerts
- Cruse Bereavement Care – Colwyn Bay office
- Home Start Conwy – support for local families
- Llandudno & Colwyn Tramway Society – maintenance of tram no.7
- N W Deaf Association – training and meeting rooms
- Relate Cymru – service costs for local clients
- Benefit Advice Shop – outreach office in Rhos on Sea
- Colwyn Bay Heritage Group – Old Colwyn Heritage Walk
- Le Sport – Family Fit 2015 Project
- Brain Team CIC – skill building workshops for carers of people with communication difficulties
After the presentations, the Town Mayor, Cllr Mrs Val Smith, said “We in the Bay of Colwyn Town Council value the contribution of charitable and voluntary organisations and the people who spend time volunteering for them and we are delighted to be able to honour and support them in this way.”
