COLWYN IN BLOOM
Jim Goodwin, President of Wales in Boom undertook his adjudication tour of Colwyn Bay on Friday 24th July.
The town entry this year was different as the town entered the Large Coastal Town. Accompanied by members of the Colwyn in Boom committee, Mr Goodwin visited the length of the promenade from Old Colwyn to Rhos on Sea.
He met a number of volunteers en route, learnt about the waterfront improvement works and the history and was advised of the committee’s plans for future activities in the ‘Bay.
Although giving nothing away, Mr Goodwin expressed his delight at the town’s tour and was complimentary about many of the sites he had visited and also how much fun the day had been.
Said Ingrid Lewis, Chair of Colwyn in Bloom: ‘The tour went incredibly well and without a single mishap en route’.
Whatever the outcome of this year’s competition, grateful thanks must go to the Colwyn in Bloom committee, Conwy County Borough Council, Bay of Colwyn Town Council and the vast number of volunteer groups, individuals and associations – all the unsung heroes who do so much to help ensure that the ‘Bay continues to look its best throughout the year for the local community and business community to enjoy.’
The results of this years Wales in Bloom competition will be announced in October at the Wales in Bloom Award ceremony held at Talgarth.
